I am a Senior Assistant Professor at the Politecnico di Milano, Italy. My research focuses on human-computer interaction, information retrieval, and creativity. My current research interests include the design of Human-Centered AI systems for empowering humans in a variety of ubiquitous, social, and collaborative settings. Examples of my work include systems to support brainstorming, exploratory search, informal conversations among friends or colleagues, and everyday digital tasks.

Before joining the Politecnico di Milano, I have been affiliated with the University of Palermo, Helsinki Institute for Information Technology HIIT, University of Helsinki, and Aalto University. I have also collaborated with the Human-Computer Interaction Institute of Carnegie Mellon University as a visiting research scholar. I am an ACM Senior Member. I hold a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from the University of Palermo.
